You know you're a mother if...

You awaken out of a deep sleep because a) you smell puke, b) you hear gagging, or c) you have that innate sensation that someone is going to puke, so you hustle out of bed grabbing the necessary supplies to make it just in time to rub a back and clean the mess.

You know you're a mother if...

your exhaustion is a constant friend, that hangs around all of the time, but becomes less and less important when your children need you. (i.e see above).

You know you're a mother if...

your heart hurts so badly for your sick child that you forget that "protein spills" make you "gag" and that vomit is gross, because for that quick moment your focus is only on making you're child feel better and not feeling so afraid.

You know you're a mother if...

you've ever wanted to punch the "douchbag without children" Facebook commentator, for accusing you of complaining on the internet, when you are just reaching out to other moms who completely understand and are also trying to navigate the parenting waters.

You know you're a mother if...

you blog just to have an "adult" conversation.

You know you're a mother if...

you've ever feared that you're just screwing up you're kids and that they'll end up being basement dwellers for all of eternity.

You know you're a mother if...

Web MD, BabyCenter and Google Answers have ever helped you self diagnose a medical issue. Or become a self diagnosed hypochondriac ( co-pays are expensive ya'll).

You know you're a mother if...

you excitedly anticipate childhood milestones, but immediately long to get those moments back, as soon as your child has hit said milestones.

You know  you're a mother if...

you no longer have a name, and are officially "so and so's mom".

You know you're a mother if...

if you've ever felt completely judged by everyone around you.

You know you're a mother if...

you've ever given a knowing grin/ nod to the mom at the grocery or church with the screaming kids, because we've all been there.

You know you're a mother if...

you've ever been too busy to eat.

You know you're a mother if...

you've cried after disciplining your children.

You know you're a mother if...

you pray for you'r children's safety and constantly worry about their future, and the world that they will grow up in.

You know you're a mother if...

a tight hug, a smile, or a kiss on the face can make even the darkest days sunny.

You know you're a mother if...

your house is a disaster, and has the look and feel of the monkey house at the zoo.

You know you're a mother if...

none of that matters, because messes can be cleaned and furniture can be repaired, but memories are forever.

Bottom line...children are gifts from God and Mothers are the superheros of the world, so strap on your cape, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Just Own it.
