Our House.

Our house is crazy.

Loud. Messy. Fun.

We have everything going on that you would expect from a home with two boys under the age of 3. But just in case you take a wrong turn and end up in our crazy house, here are a few things that you would find going on.

In our house...

There are always massive amounts of crumbs on the floor. Regardless of how often I sweep and swiffer, they find a way to come back instantaneously.

In our house...

You will always find a quilt on the floor. Initially paced to "protect" the light colored rug underneath, this has become a comfort staple. And you can bet your bottom dollar that the second it gets dirty we have a back up one in place. Cuz that's how we do.

In our house...

Every table, chair, windowsill, couch, desk...basically any higher than floor surface is a stage. Theo and Elliot are constantly putting on shows usually consisting of Riverdance-esque moves, with singing and of course announcing the start of the show. The majority of mine and hubs' evenings is spent sitting on the floor being the audience watching the newest productions to arrive to our little off Broadway location.

In our house...

We are loud. I mean of course the boys are loud, but hubs and I are loud as well. Not in a mean arguing type of loud, but more so in a I'm easily excitable type of loud. We are always cheering, whooing, hooraying, and of course singing (usually opera style). We tend to make big deals out of small things and celebrate everything. Life is short, so we celebrate it. In our house everything is exciting. It's not unusual that I'll hear Lou Bega type yells out of my husband for no apparent reason. Life's short. It's time to mambo.

In our house...

You hear us pray. Before meals, before naps, before bed. We are an open book on our beliefs. We talk about Jesus and thank him for every blessing. We know that he's our best buddy and our door to the creator. What can I say...We love us some Jesus and we always show it.

In our house...

You will not only here us singing and shouting from the rooftops, but you will here me and Hubs interact only with completely ridiculous voices. Impersonations are our forte. For instance, for about an hour last night Hubster only spoke to me in his Greg Leakes voice. Apparently in our house we also watch too many episodes of the Real Housewives.

In our house...

You will always smell new, delicious scents. Whether it be Scentsy or Candles... Mama's all about setting a great smelling mood, despite the chaos. You can almost say that it's the Calgon mentality. The other day I was burning my hot buttered rum candle and my cinnamon apple toddy candle at the same time. Candle drunk is way better than real drunk. Best part of all, I didn't even have to wait until 5:00 and bonus...No Hangover! I know,  scandalous right?  Actually it was Candleous

In our house...

You will see every piece of decor moved from room to room about a million times. I'm a fickle decorator, and I get bored. Sometimes just moving a piece from one room to another gives it that, Anthropologie look that I'm looking for. I like to call it hipster disarray. Thanks Anthro for making my cheap 70s hand me downs make me look like a trendy and eclectic mom.

In our house...

There will always be clutter until 10 pm. 10 pm is the time when I can get everything off of the floor and back into it's place. That is, until the little terrors wake up the next morning. It's quite the tug of war.

In our house...

Giggles will be heard from all around. We laugh a lot and smile even more. Hubs and I believe that happiness is the best lesson that we can teach our children.

In our house...

I will annoy you with my inability to remember which light switches control which lights. Irritating, I know, but it's happened so many times I'm officially confused and will probably never know them correctly. Luckily, I've turned my inept light switch remembering issues into a skill, I can turn them on and off so quickly that it's become almost unnoticeable. So if you find yourself looking in our windows at night, pay no attention to the strobe light show inside, beyond popular belief, we usually aren't having a late night dance party...usually.

In our house...

It's not at all unusual to be tackled to the ground for hug and/or kisses. We laugh hard, play hard, and love hard. Pretty soon our boys will be too cool to show affection, so we are absorbing every second that they want to spend with us. I made a promise to my kids that no matter what, I would live to show them that they are loved, no matter what. Even when they are "in trouble" we hold hands until we have a resolve, then after the consequence we discuss it and seal it with a hug and a kiss. Some say that I talk things to death, but I believe it's important for children to understand exact expectations. We hug it out and then it's on to the next mischief.

Regardless of all the other stuff, our life is by no means perfect, but it's perfect for us and really, isn't that what truly matters?

Our house is small and old, but it's full of new and exciting adventures.

Crumbs, Strobe lights and all.
